2018 was the year of love, blessings and reflections for me. My 2018 resolution included so many goals about family and my children in specific. I made the intention to be present physically and emotionally for them. The quality of time came on the top of my list. Their food, studies and wellbeing took a good amount of my reflections and efforts. Although it seems so much as I write it now, however, time passed by so fast in 2018. It seems like yesterday we celebrated the New Year of January 2018. I send so much love and gratitude towards 2018 as it made me realize so much about my kids and myself. There were many lessons and insights.
Create beautiful memories with kids
I enjoy observing my kids, Noora (9 years old) and Alia (4 years old). Hence, I made it a mission to create beautiful memories for them in terms of the movies we watched, the apps we enjoyed and the hobby that really got them excited throughout the year; Arts and Crafts – while I observed sipping my Americano; mommies also need a fun break of their own.
Noora and Alia never got bored from watching “Ralph Breaks the Internet”. The first time we watched it was in the cinema. The animation and the variety in the story caught their attention. Especially, the characters and the moral behind the story. There is so much acceptance between the characters, they are different, yet enjoy these differences. However, the moment the desire to isolate the friend took place among the main characters was when the story also took a new twist. It is amazing that we can teach our kids morals through stories and the bonus for us is that they do not have to feel these pains in life. OK, I hear you! We minimize the pains of life’s lessons, after all, life is all about experiences J Now, we have “Ralph Breaks the Internet” on our OSN and Netflix. No way to miss it!
Technology helps spark kids imagination
Minecraft is an application that Noora enjoys with her cousins. They build their virtual homes, landscapes and their own version of Starbucks called StarBlocks. As a big fan of Starbucks, Noora created her own menu with different frappes and hot drinks that can compete with the real Starbucks (Joking LOL). In Minecraft, Noora enjoys creating the house of her dreams and decorating it with unique furniture that her imagination was able to create based on Youtube Videos of Fancy Mansions. She adds trees, greenery, and ponds wherever there is space for landscaping and some water features.
How do you feel about Snap Chat Filters? That is a family favorite for sure! This is something we enjoyed as a family in 2018. Adding flowers, makeup, accessories without spending a penny. Not only that, I managed to look slimmer in a press of a button.
Creative playzones always win kids' hearts
The play area that won Noora and Alia’s hearts for 2018 was “OliOli” with its huge knit that raises their heartbeats by just looking at it. Anyways, they usually end up skipping it to the Arts and Crafts section. They witness their drawings coming to life through the projector. There would be a fish swimming that was just colored by Noora and on the other screen the house that Alia colored was projected as part of a neighborhood.
I think my family and I managed to make 2018 a fun year, we are looking forward to paint 2019 with love, bliss and harmony. May the lord bless all families around the world with love, joy and success.
